Circular Electronics System Map: An Industry Blueprint for Action
September 22 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm CEST
What defines circular electronic products and services? What are the implications for the industry’s future?
Join the Circular Electronics Partnership (CEP) and GEC, a founding partner, on 22 September 2022 in exploring these questions during the launch event of the “Circular Electronics System Map: An Industry Blueprint for Action”. Featured on the event speaker list will be Shela Gobertina von Trapp, GEC’s Director of EU Marketing and Outreach.
Member companies and partner organizations of the Circular Electronics Partnership, such as GEC, collaborate on projects within CEP’s roadmap towards a circular electronics industry by 2030. To do so, they need a common understanding of what circularity means for the sector and how it defines circular products and services. Therefore, they developed the “Circular Electronics System Map: An Industry Blueprint for Action”.
In line with common measurement frameworks for circularity, circular products are defined by three key attributes:
- They are made with circular resources
- They were designed for effective and efficient circular use and recovery down the value cycle, and
- They are in fact used based on circular principles and recovered at end-of-life.
Products can only be as circular as the system they circulate in. While there is a clear need for products that can be easily reused, remanufactured, and recycled, the system that allows products to flow through the different value chain stages is currently not fully in place. The Blueprint Report examines what industry can do to move toward circularity.
Forward-thinking companies need to collaboratively build a system to close the loop on products and materials and prevent them from leaking out. This report outlines 12 systemic enablers that will help the industry to collectively build a circular electronics industry and invites all stakeholders to actively make them a reality.
Register to hear from the CEP members and partners who developed the blueprint, and engage in the multi-stakeholder debate with industry, academia, and policy experts.
