Global Electronics Council (“GEC,” “we,” or “us”) may offer the option to receive information and communicate with us through mobile text messages (“SMS” or “Text Message Service”). By opting in to receive SMS messages from GEC, you agree to these SMS Terms & Privacy Notice.
These SMS Terms & Privacy Notice apply solely to our Text Message Service and supplement, but do not replace, our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Eligibility
Our Text Message Service is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years of age. By opting in, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older and authorized to enroll the mobile phone number provided.
Program Description and Message Frequency
By opting in, you may receive recurring SMS messages from GEC that may include updates, reminders, event-related information, responses to inquiries, or other information you have requested.
Message frequency varies and depends on your interactions with GEC and the nature of the SMS program(s) you have joined. Message frequency may change over time.
Consent and Opt-In
We will only send SMS messages to you if you have provided your express consent through an approved opt-in method. Your consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
Opt-Out Instructions
You may opt out of receiving SMS messages from GEC at any time.
- To opt out: Reply “STOP” to any message you receive from us.
- After opting out, you will receive a confirmation message, and no further SMS messages will be sent unless you opt in again.

Information We Collect
If you choose to receive SMS messages from us, we may collect the following information:
- Your mobile phone number.

How We Use SMS Information
We use SMS-related information solely to:
- Deliver and respond to text messages
- Provide information, updates, or reminders you request
- Operate, manage, and support our Text Message Service
- Maintain records of consent, preferences, and compliance
We do not use SMS information for marketing purposes unless you have expressly opted in to receive such messages.
Disclosure of SMS Information
We may share SMS-related information with service providers, platform providers, phone carriers, and vendors who assist us in delivering and managing SMS communications. These parties are permitted to use the information only as necessary to provide such services.
We do not sell or share your mobile number, message content, or opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
We may also disclose SMS information if required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GEC or others.
Costs and Charges
GEC does not charge for SMS messages. However, message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Check with your carrier for details.
Security
We maintain reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect SMS-related information. However, SMS transmissions may not be fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to These SMS Terms
We may update these SMS Terms & Privacy Notice from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued participation in the Text Message Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
