GEC is pleased to support ITU by inviting you to their workshop on “Accelerating Circular and Sustainable Public Procurement of ICT.” The virtual event will occur on 14 February 2023 from 13:00 to 16:00 hours, CET.
The workshop aims to provide knowledge and insights into circular economy concepts. It will also look at incorporating circular and sustainable requirements into public sector Information and Communications Technology (ICT) procurement policies and projects.
You can register and view the program for the three-hour event here and save the date for 14 February 2023 at 13:00 CET. GEC’s Director of Global Relations, Shela Gobertina von Trapp, will partake in the panel discussion on ICT and the role of public procurement.
The workshop will bring together the ITU recommendations and standards for circular ICT procurement with a recently produced practical guide on getting started and reaching more circular and sustainable goals for your ICT procurement.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand what the circular economy for ICT looks like and how public procurement can be a powerful transition tool for sustainability in the sector
- Apply the international standard Recommendation ITU-T L.1061 “Circular public procurement of ICTs” for policy and processes
- Identify practical ways for circular and sustainable public procurement by using the guideline to develop strategies, create the conditions and embed the right processes
GEC hopes to see you at the event and encourages you to engage with both ITU and the EPEAT ecolabel on this important and timely topic. Please contact John Watt at john.watt@itu.int with questions.
